In the new home, geladas can climb as much as they like and, most importantly, get to the treat themselves. No more waiting for them to be served together. Between the trees there are footbridges, ropes and platforms at different heights above the ground.

Savanna’s monkey island was completed in mid-July, but the geladas were in no hurry to leave the winter home and enter the new area. “There are such rules – if the manager does not go, then the others will not,” said Tatiana Ivasenko, the head of the Mammal Department of the Riga Zoo.
