Cirebon – A resident of Cirebon City was confirmed positive for monkey pox or Mpox. Cirebon City Regional Secretary (Sekda) Agus Mulyadi said that one resident had now been referred to the Gunung Jati Regional Hospital (RSD).
“On Tuesday it was confirmed positive. Treatment has now been carried out. Because the situation at (the patient’s) home does not allow for independent isolation, we referred him to Gunung Jati Hospital,” said Agus Mulyadi in Cirebon City, Thursday (9/11/ 2023).
Agus said that this step was taken to anticipate the spread of Mpox cases in Cirebon City. So far, said Agus, there is one resident with confirmed Mpox in Cirebon City.
However, his party is still investigating four suspects in the Mpox case in Cirebon City. The four of them are the families of residents who were confirmed positive for Mpox.
“Cirebon City has one. Hopefully there won’t be any more. But there are suspects who have been investigated. That’s still his family. There are 4 suspects in his family,” said Agus.
Agus himself has not been able to confirm the cause of the residents who were confirmed positive for monkey pox. According to him, transmission could occur through contact with individuals.
“This can be transmitted through direct contact and through droplets too,” he said.
Agus further added, regarding the Mpox case in Cirebon City, his party will ask the local Health Service, Subdistrict Head and Village Head to carry out outreach to the community regarding prevention and treatment.
“Especially for the village head, the sub-district head, the Health Service to provide outreach on prevention and treatment. Judging from the symptoms, what happens when we encounter symptoms that are almost the same. If treatment is needed, we will carry out treatment,” said Agus.
