Bar Refaeli has been sentenced to nine months community service after confessing guilt to tax evasion, reports The Times of Israel Tuesday. In the same case, the model’s mother has to go to jail for sixteen months.
Refaeli has announced that it has not paid an amount of approximately 1.9 million euros in Israeli taxes between 2009 and 2012. The 34-year-old model admitted to lying when she previously claimed to have lived mainly abroad during that time.
Tzipi Levin, Refaeli’s mother, has to go to jail for 16 months for an offense in the case. In addition to the tax amount evaded, the mother and daughter must also pay a fine of approximately EUR 650,000.
In January 2019, it was announced that Refaeli could face prosecution for money laundering and tax evasion. At the time, the model’s lawyer claimed that the whole case was “blown up”.
