Missing dog reunited with owners after 12 years | Abroad

A passer-by encountered the dog and informed the police. This person said the animal looked “old and sick.” At the time, local authorities said Zoey was ‘dumped’ from a vehicle on an estate near Stockton.

An officer scanned Zoey’s microchip and found that the dog had been reported missing in 2010. Not much later, animal and owner could be reunited. “This is great news. I absolutely did not expect this to happen,” said owner Michelle.

The dog had been missing for so long that the microchip company pronounced her dead in 2015. “We took Zoey and her twin sister from the shelter when they were six months old, then Zoey was with us for six months when she disappeared. We went to the store for about twenty minutes and when we came back she wasn’t there,” says Michelle. “I look forward to getting Zoey back to health and giving her some more great years to come.”
