The election of Miss France 2021 will have a special flavor. Because of the health measures, Clémence Botino (Miss France 2020) and Sylvie Tellier will not have the chance to go to Tahiti to elect Miss Tahiti 2020. Matahari Bousquet, who won the election in June 2019, will therefore keep his title for an additional year. But she will not be able to take the competition once again. And it could also be that no young woman represents Miss Center-Val de Loire. While the election was scheduled for next September, it will not take place this year, because its organizer, Jean-Jacques Sabourin, has revealed that he is resigning from his post.
It was to La Nouvelle République that he announced the news. “Since the start of confinement, we have discussed the various problems with all the delegates during videoconferences. And we suggested different solutions to the Miss France organization: first of all a white year, like many other important events. Or the designation of our first runners-up to participate in the election of Miss France 2021. These proposals were refused, ”explained Jean-Jacques Sabourin first of all.
He therefore raised the idea of holding an election behind closed doors. But a detail finally made him turn back and resign: “What was accepted, but there is only one condition: the compulsory presence of Miss France. The presence of Miss France is a check for 3,200 euros, not including accommodation costs. (…) To have such demands in such a situation then appeared to me to be totally indecent. (…) I must admit that I no longer recognize myself in this system, I who have always acted out of passion and voluntarily. It is for all these reasons that I give up the game. “
Contacted by our colleagues, Sylvie Tellier did not fail to react to this news. “Saddened and surprised”, the general manager of the company Miss France explained that she did not intend to abandon this election so far.
Sylvie Tellier wishes to organize the election of Miss Center Val de Loire. “In 2020 we are celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the creation of the competition. We have to hold the election, behind closed doors if necessary. And with the public whenever the law and conditions permit. I actually asked my delegates to associate Miss France with their regional elections. (…) But there is no will on our part to pressure the local organizers ”, she declared in particular. Young women who hoped to claim the title of Miss Center-Val de Loire will therefore have to wait for a decision to be made.
