We know more about the fire that struck a department of the Montfavet psychiatric hospital this Thursday evening. The fire would indeed have started from a cleaning trolley, without it being known for the moment whether it is a criminal act or an accident.
In a press release, the director of the CHS Marie-Laure Piquemal-Ratouit welcomed the action of the professionals who “reacted quickly and professionally to evacuate all patients and put them in protection. This type of event is always serious and very risky, but the organization implemented to manage the situation has allowed it to go as well as possible.“.
The state of health of the most seriously affected patient, who had been evacuated to Avignon hospital for burns, is reassuring. All the other people taken care of in this Envol 1 unit, reserved for patients, not all stabilized and therefore particularly vulnerable, were accommodated the same evening in the other units.
“The Samu team relayed by the Cump allowed the continuity of care and the best management of each personal situationcontinues the director. An organization is in place to reinstall, as of Tuesday, patients in a unit that has just been moved.”
