Minsa to announce actions against covid-19 tomorrow Thursday | News

The Ministry of Health (MINSA) has confirmed that on Thursday 1 December, at 11:00, it will offer a press conference to publicize actions aimed at continuing to tackle covid-19.

The Minister of Health, Kelly Portalatino Ávalos, accompanied by a technical team from the Minsa, will be in charge of making the announcements that aim to stop the increase in coronavirus infections in the country.

“We have a contingency plan to deal with covid-19, intensive care beds, intermediate care, oxygen systems nationwide; all of this is guaranteed”, underlined the minister.

Portalatino questioned whether the population, especially the younger ones, were letting their guard down, not following health protocols such as wearing a mask, social distancing and hand washing.

“The numbers continue to increase and this is due to the inattention of all Peruvians who are not responsible for them. We have to act, we will evaluate these measures, whether they will come back or not. But we can’t let our guard down.”

Vaccination against covid-19

Given the increase in cases, the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Disease Control (CDC Peru) has recommended completing doses of vaccines corresponding to their age to reduce the risk of developing severe pictures of the disease. “It is important that the elderly and people with comorbidities have completed 4 doses of the covid-19 vaccine,” the entity says.

Just today, the director of vaccinations of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), María Elena Martínez, reported that about 8 million people in Peru have not yet received the fourth dose of the covid-19 vaccine, warned

He also added that nearly 4 million people need to complete their third dose of the vaccine, for which he called on the population to immunize themselves against covid-19 to avoid becoming seriously ill from the virus.
