The Ministry of SOEs is open about the option for Garuda Indonesia to be replaced by Pelita Air. Special Staff to the Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga explained that the government’s priority was to save Garuda Indonesia.
“This is Garuda, we are actually in the negotiation process. So hopefully the negotiations will be successful,” he told reporters, Sunday (10/24/2021).
He explained that only in that way could Garuda Indonesia survive. Arya doesn’t want to talk much about Pelita Air’s option to replace Garuda Indonesia.
“The option regarding Pelita will come later. The main thing is that we are currently trying, continuing to fight and to be able to negotiate with lessors, parties who have receivables with Garuda, that is the main thing and that option is the first, yes, we put it first ,” he explained.
According to him, Garuda Indonesia’s condition must be viewed rationally, and as much as possible must be saved by negotiating with the lessors.
“If the negotiations fail, then we will look for other options and we will look for ways, steps to keep us, this BUMN still has airline planes. So we’ll just have to wait and see what the conditions of our negotiations are,” he added.
