Ministry of Public Health’s National Vaccination Day against Influenza and Respiratory Viruses in Media Outlets

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) carried out the National Vaccination Day against influenza A (H1N1), A (H3N2) and type B to different media outlets, with the aim of preventing the circulation of respiratory viruses in the population, among these the Syncytial (RSV).

He explained that media personnel are among the risk groups for contracting this type of disease.

The state institution, through the Division of Immunopreventable Vaccines (DVI), began the operation on Color Visión, Channel 9.

The operation was also carried out simultaneously on three of the country’s highest-rated radio programs, as well as on the newspaper LISTÍN DIARIO, Noticiario SIN and the staff of Grupo Corripio’s media, Hoy, El Día and El Nacional.

The director of the Division of Vaccine Preventables (DVI), Aida Lucía Vargas, said that this strategy, in addition to protecting the staff of the country’s different media outlets against influenza A(HINI), A(H3•N2) and influenza type B, and other respiratory viruses, also has the purpose of promoting the benefits of the vaccine and raising awareness in the population about its effectiveness in preventing the disease, which has a higher incidence in the last months of the year.

“This vaccination is basically aimed at children from six months to two years old, pregnant women, people over 65 years of age, health workers, people with chronic diseases and you who also consider yourself among the groups at risk of contracting the disease. “This vaccine is considered an effective prevention tool,” said Vargas.

He assured that the vaccine that protects against influenza reduces the risk of consultations and hospitalizations related to the disease.

He recalled that it is applied every year throughout the country in the 1,421 vaccination posts that Public Health has.

The head of the DVI, who coordinates the vaccination, reported that the staff of Health area five will continue the vaccination on the 11th and 12th of this month in 2023 on Telemicro, Channel 5, and the staff of the Nuria Piera Research Program .

Last week, the Minister of Health, Daniel Rivera, opened the vaccination day against seasonal influenza, with journalists, communicators and photojournalists who cover the health source.
