Ministry of Health Urges Parents to Vaccinate Children Against Pneumococcus and Other Diseases

He Ministry of Health (Minsa) asks parents to apply the pneumococcus vaccine to boys and girls, which has wide coverage for respiratory infections.

This measure is implemented as a preventive measure against the wave of atypical childhood pneumonia in the Chinese population.

It has been shown that vaccination against pneumococcus has a protective effect in the child population. It is called for all children to have their three doses of complete vaccines.

The first doses are given at two and four months of age, followed by a booster at one year.

In the coming weeks, extramural sessions will be resumed at vaccination posts, where people will be vaccinated against Covid-19, influenza, among other diseases, in the main shopping centers of the metropolitan region, San Miguelito and Panamá Norte.

Vaccination coverage in children

Influenza: 70% Chickenpox (1 to 4 years): 83% Hepatitis: 86% Hepatitis B (newborns): 70% Measles, mumps and rubella: 89 Papilloma vaccines: 86% Pertussis vaccine in adolescents: 75%, and in pregnant women: 70.6%.
