Ministry is thinking about puncture locations at festivals and in the catering industry

The Ministry of Health, together with the GGDs, is looking at ways in which people who do not respond to a vaccination invitation can still be tempted to have a corona jab. According to a spokeswoman, this includes, for example, mobile injection locations at festivals and in the catering industry.

At the moment, GGDs are already working with mobile injection locations, such as buses. They go to places where fewer people show up for a shot, such as ‘neighbourhoods with a low socio-economic status’. For example, prick campaigns have already been held on the market in Rotterdam. “It really varies by region,” said the ministry spokeswoman. “This kind of action is not necessary everywhere.”

Vaccination readiness lowest among young people

The willingness to vaccinate is relatively lowest among young people. That is why the option for prick campaigns at festivals and in the catering industry is also on the table. “Everything is already being looked at, discussed and investigated,” the ministry said. “And this summer, when the mass vaccination campaign is over, we will look at which options are needed for which target groups.” There may also be a ‘national campaign day’ to draw extra attention to the importance of vaccination.

The mobile injection sites do not vaccinate just anyone who comes by. “Of course it will be checked whether you have already received an invitation. For example, if you’re 18, you just have to wait until you’re called up.”

The spokeswoman therefore wants to emphasize that it is important that people simply make an appointment when they are invited. “The mobile locations are really meant for the ‘white spots’ on the map, where we can’t reach people with the invitation.”
