Minister Praises Police for Capturing Suspect in Papua Pulmonologist’s Death – ANTARA News

Indonesia’s Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has praised the police for their efforts in investigating the suspicious death of Mawartih Susanti, a pulmonologist from Nabire Regional Hospital in Central Papua province. The suspect, identified as a cleaning service officer at the hospital, has been arrested. Sadikin has emphasised the government’s responsibility to provide health workers with security and safety guarantees so that they can perform their duties properly, especially those serving in remote regions. Susanti was the only pulmonologist in the Nabire region for six years and was highly dedicated to her work. The investigation into her death revealed irregularities and indications of physical harm. The Health Minister’s statement reiterates the need for medical personnel’s protection, where they can fulfil their duty of providing essential medical services in remote regions of the country.
