Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health, said that supporting the mental health system is a top priority for the ministry in the coming period, implementing the directives of the political leadership on the matter.
The minister said in his speech at the House of Representatives plenary session today Wednesday that work is underway to include mental health hospitals within the global health insurance system in Port Said, continuing: “Health is physical health, mental health and community health, and they are the mainstay of the health system anywhere in the world. The world and the mental health sector are our top priorities for the coming period and we are working to implement the President’s mandate on a presidential mental health initiative in Egypt. “
The minister stressed that there is a misunderstanding in society about mental health as a stigma, continuing: “We want to change the concept of mental health in society … violence leads to addiction, harassment and more. Therefore, beware of supporting health. mental health is very important and the mental health system is a top priority. The Ministry of Health is no less important than organic health. “
