CREMONA – Mina, the Cremonese. La Tigre thanks Cremona with a photo – published on its website and on social channels – of via Solferino illuminated by the verses of “Amor mio”: words of an immortal melody that will remain suspended between earth and sky until March 25, the day of the singer’s 81st birthday. The voice of the voices proves that he appreciated the special homage of his city. A gesture that is anything but taken for granted, that of Mina. Because she, holed up for many years in her buen retiro in Lugano, almost never lends herself to external expressions and appreciation. The mere sharing of that image of Cremona dressed up in its name, accompanied by links to online publications that tell the “talking lights”, therefore sounds like a sign of gratitude and genuine attachment.

A meandering adage among the people of Cremona says that Mina is now too distant, even emotionally, from the city that raised her and launched her into myth. There are even those who openly accuse it of “ingratitude” towards their roots. To tell the truth, the Tiger, who for some time chose to entrench himself in absolute isolation, when he broke the vow of silence he did it only for his Cremona. “Ready? I’m Mina. Sùunti la Mina de Cremùuna “: this is how she addressed the then mayor Oreste Perri, in 2010, in a phone call which, still today, represents one of the rare but vivid testimonies of his deep and unshakable affection for the city of Torrazzo. Above all because the motive for that call was closely linked to the Cremonese tradition.
