“Millions of streams on Spotify are not enough for a Ferrari”

Monday, March 29 at 6.30 p.m .: live streaming concert with Damian Lynn

You were planning to become a teacher, but you finally decided on a career as a pop star. How did this happen?
Damian Lynn: When I finished high school, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I enjoy teaching, passing on knowledge to children. So I started training as a teacher. At the same time, I launched the Damian Lynn project, which continued to grow until the day I performed at the Gurten festival. After my bachelor’s degree in 2014, I resolved to take a break from my studies to see where the music would take me.

Do you sometimes regret having given up on becoming a teacher?
No, because I am able to make a living with my music and it is without doubt the most beautiful dream I could imagine. Of course, this choice remains a challenge and independence is far from always simple.

For example, in these times of coronavirus?
As I am my own employee, during the first months I benefited from partial unemployment. I have always found solutions to assert my rights and I am very, very happy to have received assistance which allowed me to stay afloat.
