Milka attacks Nutella: new chocolate cream goes on sale at Rewe and Edeka

Nutella is currently the absolute market leader in spreads. The parent company Ferrero generates billions in sales. Nutella even has a proud 54 percent market share worldwide.

Every second household that buys hazelnut cream uses Nutella on the supermarket shelf. Customers are pissed off by the high proportion of palm oil. Nutella thus gives its chocolate cream a creamy texture. Conservationists criticize the fact that very large areas of the rainforest are being cleared during production. A large part of the flora and fauna is damaged. Nutella argues that only sustainable palm oil is used.

More and more companies are trying to scratch Nutella’s market leadership. A year ago, Barilla pasta even launched its own chocolate cream.

With the “Pan di Stelle” brand, the company seems to have landed on the spot, especially in Italy. Cookies, muesli and chocolate bars followed. In Germany, Barilla currently sells the “Pan di Stelle” products only via online shops (secure Amazon offer here).-

Milka takes a different path and places the product directly on the supermarket shelf. Incidentally, the product can only be bought from mid-April at the earliest.
