Milad, Cagigao and the sale of smoke

“Francis has a list”, “Francis will help us”, “Francis here and Francis there”. The words of Pablo Milad, president of the ANFP, to talk about the new coach of La Roja always end with Francis Cagigao, the new national sports director of Chilean football.

Who is he? Although Milad wanted to paint it differently, the Spaniard is nothing more than the historic scouting or “talent scout” of Arsenal. In Chile he became the key that the national soccer boss was looking for to fulfill his great goal since he took office: to get Rueda.

Because let’s be clear: the still coach of Chile never wanted to go to Colombia or anywhere. He was happy here and had the support of the players (from Arturo Vidal to Claudio Bravo, so that they don’t go out with the nonsense that the “King” was putting together the team for him). “He was hired to take the Red to the World Cup and there are just four dates,” they say from their environment. And they have all the reason…

All this was a tongo, very well organized, to bore him and he would end up leaving, which will eventually happen. Had we ever seen a president talk about the future DT when the current one was still in office? Unpresentable. Beyond the results and whether or not we agree with his work, Rueda will leave La Roja in the most scratchy way someone can leave a job.

Now, with the Caleño already out, we only have to wait for who will bring us the “great” Cagigao. If Arsene Wenger, Jürgen Klopp or Roberto Martínez arrive, we go and make him a statue. But if not, we’ll keep wondering what the hell a “scout” will do leading Chilean soccer.

We hope that among its functions is to finish once and for all with the “jerks” of the minor teams and that they finally stop trampling national teams as happened to Coquimbo in the South American, where Milad was a mere spectator.

Enough of the sale of smoke of the bombastic names for the Red, explain once and for all what Cagigao’s work will consist of and whether or not he has “closeness” with a famous representative, who also owns a soccer club in Chile.
