The entire European migration policy must be overhauled. Borders must be better monitored and the EU must immediately expel rejected asylum seekers. That is at least the ambition of the new European Commission.
European Commissioner for Migration Margaritis Schinas visited today in The Hague, where he seeks support for his new approach to migration problems in Europe. The Commissioner says that Europe continues to take care of people fleeing miserable circumstances. “But everyone who does not deserve the protection of the EU will have to go back. And this time we will do it too.”
A solution must also be found for countries that want to receive little or no migrants and also do not want to donate money, especially from Eastern Europe. Schinas is clear about this: whoever does not care must pay. “Everyone has to contribute in one way or another. This will not be easy, but we have to do it.”
