Microsoft’s new smartphone app – Office should have always been so user-friendly

With a new free app, Microsoft is making its office software suitable for the small screens and as easy to use as we have always wanted it to be.

Old wine in new bottles – or finally an app from Microsoft that is geared towards user needs?

At first glance, the new Office app is nothing more than old wine in new bottles: it opens and processes Word, Excel and Powerpoint files – just as it is possible with the mobile apps that have been around for a while twenty years there. A brief look at history: Microsoft introduced Office Mobile in April 2000, at that time for its own handheld operating system Windows CE. Variants for the iPhone were added in 2010, and Android for 2013.
