Microsoft was quite “inspired” by MacOS when creating Windows XP

A few days ago, the world heard about Windows XP source code leak. Krzysiek already mentioned the potential consequences in his entry, so I will not repeat myself. But every day there is more information that sheds a completely new light on one of the most iconic versions of Microsoft’s operating system. From today’s perspective, it is already archaic, but also so worshiped that many users still cannot say goodbye to it. They may not actually have to, although this is a topic for a completely different discussion. Today about cosmetology – that is, Microsoft’s experimenting with themes that are clearly associated with … Apple computers!

While rummaging in the aforementioned source code, new themes were found, which were initially developed for Windows XP. One of them, Candy, with its style resembles the iconic MacOS “bubbles” (it is the Aqua interface that Apple presented in 2000 at its Macworld event) – and although it is not a complete version of the skin, it is really difficult to hide “inspirations” with what offered the Apple system.

Naturally, thanks to the ability to install your own themes in Windows XP during its heyday, dozens of themes much more “zżynin” from the aesthetics of Apple appeared – but the local, developed by Microsoft, is such a real treat. A song of the past, which was never included in the final version of the product (it was not without reason that it was only available for internal use). There were interesting times when Apple openly laughed at the fact that the Redmond team copied their ideas (they even started one of the conferences with the slogan “Redmond, fire up your copiers”) – but these were times when both systems fought fiercely with each other. Now these differences have blurred, because the target is not the one, and (at least for the moment) Mac users can easily install Windows on them. Everyone according to their needs.
