Microsoft will update Teams to integrate it with Outlook, a new feature that will be extremely useful for users of the Redmond collaborative platform. This integration is currently in development, with a release scheduled for March 2021.
The integration, according to Microsoft, will allow “to send a copy of emails or conversations, including attachments, in the chats and channels of the teams.” You can also start a chat of the teams linked to a specific email message.
Microsoft also points out that when sharing with teams from Outlook on the web, a pop-up window will appear to confirm with which channel or person you want to share an email. You can also select if you want to include attachments or not.
Anything that facilitates remote work in this pandemic world will be welcome.
On the attack against Zoom and Meet
Microsoft has also been working hard to improve the video conferencing functionality of Teams, a market sector that is increasingly competitive with usage figures that would hardly have been credible before Covid-19.
With the upcoming Outlook integration, Teams has announced a new video conferencing view for larger meetings, better mobile optimization, and other capabilities to compete with Webex and Zoom, which have moved quickly to release updates and security patches as their usage skyrocketed.
