Microsoft starts forcing the update to Windows 11 22H2

Microsoft has started rolling out the mandatory 2022 version of the operating system Windows 11 On devices running the 2021 release that is close to its end of support date of October 10, 2023.

The US tech giant has traditionally automatically released the latest versions of its operating systems to ensure that devices approaching its end-of-support date are still taken care of by providing them with the latest software updates, security updates, and improvements.

The stage of rolling out the automatic update for the 2022 version, also known as (Windows 11 22H2), comes after it became available for widespread deployment today to users who have devices eligible for it through the Windows Update feature.

Microsoft said in an update to what is known as the Health Dashboard: “Today we start automatically updating unmanaged consumer and business devices running version 21H2 of the Home and Professional (Pro) versions of Windows 11 to version 22H2 of Windows 11.”

The company added: “Since Windows 10, we help keep Windows systems up to date and secured with supported versions of Windows through automatic updates. We’re using the same approach for Windows 11 to help you stay protected and productive.” Automatic updates will be introduced gradually, starting with devices running (Windows 21H2) for the longest period.
