Microsoft Gives Five Bethesda Games FPS Boost Mode On Xbox Series X and S – Gaming – News

Microsoft is going to give Dishonored, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Skyrim and Prey its FPS Boost feature on the next generation Xbox. Microsoft’s Larry Hryb accidentally announced this in the Xbox Podcast; the part of the podcast in which this was discussed was then cut out.

Gaming-twittergebruiker Wario64 was one of those who picked up the information before Microsoft decided to remove the segment in question from the YouTube-video to cut. The presenters did not mention a release date, but according to The Verge, which has also received the piece, the functions will come ‘soon’.

Microsoft introduced the FPS Boostfeature in February. This feature takes advantage of the additional computing power of the new Xbox consoles to play previous generation games that can be played through backwards compatibility, at a higher frame rate. So far, only Far Cry 4, Sniper Elite 4, UFC 4, Watch Dogs 2 and New Super Lucky’s Tale have benefited from FPS Boost. They run at 60fps instead of 30. However, New Super Lucky’s Tale itself runs at 120fps.

Microsoft told Digital Foundry that FPS Boost works at the Direct3D level, so no game code has to be changed. In time, the ‘possible’ function could also be added to Xbox and Xbox 360 games, the tech company reports. It further stated that ‘many of these upcoming FPS Boost games’ will be part of Xbox Game Pass. That includes the aforementioned Bethesda games: those five and fifteen others have been part of the Game Pass since Friday.

Whoever goes to that point in the video now will hear almost nothing about FPS Boost and at 14:15 a cut can be seen in the video
