Williams was found dead by law enforcement in his New York apartment on Monday afternoon September 6. According to unofficial findings of the journal, the 54-year-old was unconscious in the dining room. On the table, however, there was a substance that is most likely heroin – the police have not yet confirmed these reports, although journalists recall that the actor had already admitted to having problems with drugs.

The “NYT” describes that the actor’s relative spoke to the 54-year-old on the phone on Friday. On Saturday, Williams was supposed to appear at the party, but he did not make it. On Monday, concerned members of his family tried to get into his apartment, but no one answered them. Traces in the apartment do not indicate the involvement of third parties, and there was no attempted break-in.
Michael K. Williams was known for TV Shows such as “The Law of the Street” or the films “Assassin’s Creed and” The Hidden Flaw. “He made his acting debut in 1996 thanks to the late rapper Tupac Shakur, who died soon after. Musician drew attention to Michael, who worked as a choreographer and hired him to work in movie “Bullet”. At that time, he had the opportunity to meet actors such as Mickey Rourke and Adrien Brody.
For Williams, the breakthrough role in the series “The Law of the Street”, in which he played the criminal Omar Little. The prototype of the character was the famous thief and hit man Donnie Andrews, and the scar on his face was not made as a result of make-up – the actor had it from the age of 25 after he was wounded in a bar fight. He was also recognized by other TV productions: “Forbidden Empire”, “Lovecraft Country” or “As They See Us”.
In films, he usually played supporting roles. He performed in movies actions such as “The Mercenary”, “Assassin’s Creed” or “RoboCop”, but also with famous directors – Martin Scorses (“Dark Side of the City”) or Paul Thomas Anderson (“Hidden Defect”). One of the last films with his participation are “Straceńcy”. The film “892”, where he starred alongside John Boyega, is also to be released.
Michael K. Williams has received five Emmy nominations for his roles in “The Long Night”, “As They See Us”, “Bessie” and “Lovecraft Land.” He has already won the Black Reel and Critic’s Choice Television for his performance in the latter production.
