Michael Eneramo: His Career at Sivasspor and Beşiktaş – A Retrospective

Michael Eneramo, who was transferred to Sivasspor from the Tunisian 1st League team Esperance in the interim transfer period of 2011, scored 38 times in 108 matches for Yiğidolar and contributed 18 assists. The former Nigerian striker, who attracted the attention of the Super League giants after his effective play in Sivasspor, moved to Beşiktaş under the management of Croatian coach Slaven Bilic in 2013.

Eneramo, who did not have much playing time in Beşiktaş, to which he was transferred with great hopes and signed a 2-year contract, and who came to the fore with allegations of health problems, scored 1 goal in 5 matches he played for the black-white team. The former center forward, who played in 11 matches for the Nigerian National Team, performed here with 3 goals.

Former Nigerian striker Michael Eneramo, who retired from football in 2018, shared his thoughts about his periods in Sivasspor and Beşiktaş.

HERE ARE ENERAMO’S STATEMENTS:

”I RECEIVED AN OFFER FROM FENERBAHÇE”

”When I came to Sivas in 2011, there was a different environment where the weather was very cold. But still, I adapted to Sivasspor very quickly. Rıza Çalımbay Hodja helped me adapt to the environment very quickly. I had a great season with Sivasspor. I had the opportunity to work with Rıza Çalımbay. Rıza Çalımbay believed in me. I worked with many talented players at Sivasspor. Big clubs in Turkey and Europe were interested in transferring me. At that time, apart from Beşiktaş, I received transfer offers from Fenerbahçe, Trabzonspor and Bursaspor. “Bursaspor and Beşiktaş were more interested in me and then I signed an agreement with Beşiktaş.”

”DURING MY TRANSFER TO BEŞİKTAŞ, THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY HEART”

”During the first health checks during my transfer to Beşiktaş, the doctor said that my heart was enlarged and my heart rhythm was irregular. Later, I got tested again at another hospital. This time the results were good and I had no problems with my heart. Then I signed a contract with Beşiktaş. I didn’t regret going to Beşiktaş. My only regret was not having enough time there and that was Slaven Bilic’s decision. I could never play enough in Beşiktaş. That’s why, by Slaven Bilic’s decision, I had to go to Karabükspor to get more time. Beşiktaş stadium was amazing and the fans were incredible. “I think Beşiktaş had one of the fans who supported their team in the best possible way.”

”RIZA ÇALIMBAY CHANGES THE ATMOSPHERE IN BEŞİKTAŞ”

”I think Şenol Güneş is a good coach. He did very good things for Beşiktaş and Turkish football. Burak Yılmaz was a great player and had game experience. Burak Yılmaz’s resignation is due to the fact that the results were not good and Beşiktaş did not deserve its place in the league table. Sometimes in football you can give your all but still not get results. I think that Rıza Çalımbay, who has now come to Beşiktaş, can change the atmosphere in the team. I played under the management of Rıza Hodja for 2 years. He is a very disciplined and hardworking coach. Rıza Hodja understood the players and knew how to talk to them. She also knew how to step up your game. “I hope Rıza Çalımbay will be successful in Beşiktaş.”

”PAUL ONUACHU MAY BE THE KING SCORER. GALATASARAY IS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP”

”Trabzonspor’s forward Paul onuachu is a great striker and very strong. Onuachu is also a fast striker and can score goals from any angle. He has a lot of potential, I believe he can be top scorer if he continues with his current form. I follow the Super League. As you know, the league in football is like a long marathon. You cannot predict who will be the champion. But I still think Galatasaray is in a good position to win the championship.”
