Mexico reached 5,599,284 accumulated cases of COVID-19 this Friday, the federal Ministry of Health reported in its daily technical report.
The agency in charge of Jorge Alcocer also reported that the number of people who died due to the pandemic amounted to 320,851.
The Ministry of Health also reported that the number of estimated active cases is 23,681. These cases are those considered the engine of the pandemic in the country because they had symptoms in the last 14 days and have the capacity to spread.
Over the last few days, this indicator has been falling.
The path of the pandemic
On February 28, Mexico celebrated two years since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in its territory. On March 18, it will be two years since the first death was recorded.
Currently, according to the federal authorities, the fourth wave of infections is already in a declining stage, which is reflected in the fact that 31 of the 32 states are already green at the epidemic risk traffic light.
In this context, the governments of Nuevo León and Coahuila announced this week that the use of face masks will no longer be mandatory in open spaces.
