Mexican Red Cross Depleted COVID-19 Vaccine Supply in Just 20 Minutes, Leaving Many Unprotected

In just 20 minutes, the demand for the COVID-19 vaccine ended with the 100 doses of the Pfizer biological that the Mexican Red Cross acquired through its delegation in Toluca, however, vaccination will resume until next Tuesday, January 2, 2024, since the North American laboratory did not fill the complete order.

Also promptly, the vaccine was finished in the delegations of the worthy institution located in the municipalities of Naucalpan and Cuautitlán México, as well as in the facilities of Lilas, in the mayor’s office of Cuajimalpa and in the Central Hospital of Polanco, in the capital. from the country. It should be noted that on this first day there was no pediatric vaccine for the little ones, since the pharmaceutical company did not supply it.

It was explained that it will be until Tuesday, January 2, 2024 when said vaccine will continue to reach the population once the laboratories regularize delivery.

“We had vaccines for today (Thursday), it was not the number we required, it was only 10 percent of the original order and that allowed us to at least be fulfilling the commitment, to start with the application of vaccines here in the Toluca delegation and in the Red Cross delegations in the State of Mexico and Mexico City,” indicated Mario Vázquez de la Torre, president of the Mexican Red Cross Toluca delegation.

Among the long line of people who met at the Mexican Red Cross delegation in Toluca, was Mr. Carlos Martínez, who gave importance to being protected against the new coronavirus. The bad thing, he added, is that currently it is very difficult to obtain this vaccine.

“It is essential protection for the times we live in, we must be protected against this COVID virus, it is very difficult to get a vaccine currently,” said the resident from Toluca.

Upon meeting Mr. José Faustino García, he stressed that although he received all his vaccines against this disease free of charge when the campaigns were in complicated times of pandemic, now you have to pay to continue living.

“Well, nothing more for a reinforcement of the COVID that is there, which is not over yet, it continues, because it is exaggerated, but we have to pay for it if we want to continue, now yes, I have all of them living, all the vaccines since the pandemic began ”.

Norma Leticia Peralta agreed with Messrs. Carlos and José, that we must continue to take care of ourselves to avoid any possible contagion, “I consider that the disease, COVID, is not a matter of play and if there is a vaccine we must reinforce ourselves and we must take care of ourselves.” .

Vaccine for disabled and elderly people

Vázquez de la Torre announced that next week, only in the Toluca delegation, a mechanism will be implemented to apply the COVID-19 vaccine in homes where there are disabled or elderly people, the cost of which will range from 900 pesos, that is , 115 pesos more than the normal application that is made at the Red Cross facilities.

“Especially for these people who have mobility problems, elderly people who are bedridden at home or who have difficulties getting around, it will be a service that we will be implementing starting next week.

It will have an additional cost, possibly it will be 900 pesos, with a difference of 115 pesos than what is applied here at the Red Cross of Toluca. We have calculated that we will be applying 50 per day, but it will depend on demand,” the paramedic also expressed.
