Meteorologists warn: – – Gusts of more than 30 seconds

– Now we have sent out so many danger warnings that we ourselves are almost buzzing, the Meteorological Institute writes on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

In the coming days, strong winds and storms are expected in several places in Norway, and the yellow danger warnings extend from north to south.

– Everyone will experience a lot of wind, says on-duty meteorologist at the Meteorological Institute, Hanne Beate Skattør, to Dagbladet.

Wind gusts of 30 seconds

The reason for the strong wind is that Norway is hit by a low pressure.

– The first danger warnings include Salten, Ofoten and Lofoten and apply already from last night. The wind will then move north, and hit Troms in the morning and Finnmark in the morning, says Skattør.

The strongest winds are expected in the coastal areas and exposed areas in North Troms and West Finnmark.

– In these areas there will be periods of small storms and gusts of over 30 meters per second. But also in the northern parts of Nordland and in South Troms, the gusts will approach the 30s, says the meteorologist and continues:

– The wind will also cause high waves. North of Møre og Romsdal, a wave height of five meters is expected. You may therefore want to stay away from small boats and prepare for ferries to be canceled.

The strong wind in northern Norway will lie throughout the day. On Thursday, it is the southern parts of the country that have to cover themselves with a lot of wind.

– We have sent out a yellow danger warning for Sunnhordland, Rogaland and Agder, where a strong gale and short-lived storm are expected.

– Be careful

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute recommends people in the exposed areas to secure loose objects, avoid unnecessary traffic in exposed places, and to check advice from transport operators.

“Loose objects can blow away. Possibility of canceled departures for ferry, plane or other transport. Some trips may have a longer travel time. Some roads can be closed due to trees or other objects in the roadway “, it says in the danger warnings.

– It is important to be extra careful and attentive when there is a strong wind, Skattør emphasizes.
