New York City and several surrounding counties will face a megastorm this Monday afternoon and nightwarned the Weather Service.
Heavy rains are expected, in addition to severe thunderstorms and powerful gusts of wind that, although they will provide some relief after the heat wave, could cause flooding and falling trees.
The storm is not only expected for New York, but also for seven other states, including New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

The rainfall alert is maintained from noon this Monday until 8:00 p.m.
There could be gusts of more than 60 miles per hour along the I-95 corridor, according to meteorologist Christopher Tate.
“As this cold front moves east, the storm threat, of course, moves east as well,” Tate told the New York Post.
Although it is possible to cause some damage, the storm will help lower the temperature, which reached 91 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday.
Last week, New York City experienced a storm that caused floods and problems in collective transport in all five boroughs, primarily in Manhattan.
