Biden flags and flags of the Black Lives Matter movement were waved next to those of the United States, plus there was champagne, dance and music. There was also great euphoria in the east coast metropolis of New York. Just seconds after several US media had declared Biden the winner, cheers and horn concerts broke out in the streets. Big party in Times Square
Thousands of people flocked to the world-famous Times Square from all directions. The metropolis has not seen a celebration like this since the coronavirus outbreak in the spring. Many wore masks, but some huddled together. The streets around Trump Tower on 5th Avenue, on the other hand, were largely cordoned off. New York is the native city of Trump.

TV stations also showed pictures of people celebrating from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The US metropolises on the east and west coast are considered liberal and democratic. According to initial results, Joe Biden won the vast majority of the votes there.
Trump supporters outnumbered
In the clear outnumbered were the supporters of the incumbent president, who, according to the newspaper “USA Today”, gathered in state capitals and protested against the alleged election fraud. In the past few days, Trump had always portrayed himself as a victim of systematic election fraud without providing any solid evidence.

In Austin, the capital of Texas, protesters from both camps faced each other, as the local branch of the TV station ABC reported. Initially, no violent incidents were reported. Before the election, however, it was feared that, given the deep rifts in the US, there could be riots or clashes between the camps of Trump and Biden supporters after the election.
