Contract Mesut Ozil just disconnected Fenerbahce. But reportedly zil immediately got a new club, even just 29 minutes after becoming a free agent.
Ozil actually joined Fenerbahce after being released by Arsenal in the winter of 2021. At that time the 2014 World Cup winner, with Germany, was contracted until the summer of 2024.
However, this week Mesut zil’s contract has been terminated by the Turkish club even though his contract still has two years remaining.

Don’t wait long after it’s released Fenerbahcezil is said to have been immediately announced by his new club. There is another Turkish club, Istanbul Basaksehir, that does it.
“So fast! Transfer Mesut Ozil to Istanbul Basaksehir confirmed only 29 minutes after being released by Fenerbahce,” reads the title of the British media article Daily Mail.
“Mesut zil completed a free transfer with Istanbul Basaksehir just 29 minutes after his contract was terminated 2 years early by Fenerbahce,” said another British media, The Sun.
Both articles themselves refer to a tweet from the Twitter account of Istanbul Basaksehir, a club closely associated with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The tweet actually only contained a 35-second video of Kir Zincirlerini’s popular Turkish song accompanied by the caption, “@M10.”
