Barca is loved by a large number of football fans including in Kerala as the club where Lionel Messi grew up.
Messi learned the game from Argentina through Barcelona’s academy, La Masia. Spanish footballer Gerard Pique was Messi’s best friend during his club days.
But later, Messi’s relationship with Pique deteriorated. When Messi left Barca, there was criticism from many quarters that Pique was behind it. But there are no confirmed reports about it.
Messi left Barca in 2021. The player moved to PSG when Barca informed Messi that the club was unable to pay the player.
But Spanish media, including Marca, reported several reports that Pique told club president Laporta that Barca’s financial obligations would end if Messi was removed from the club.
But now, before leaving Barcelona, prominent journalist PP Estrada has come forward, accusing Messi of writing ‘Judas’ on Mill Pique’s dressing room.
PP’s statement was reported by Marka.
“There were rumblings that Pique was behind Messi leaving Barca over financial matters. While leaving the club, Messi went to the dressing room to collect his belongings from the locker room. There was a blackboard.
“When Messi came back from the dressing room, ‘Judas’ was written on the board in big letters,” PP Estrada said.
“Pique saw it and asked Jordi Alba who wrote it. Alba replied Messi.
Pique then asked Alba about whom Judas was written. Alba replied to Pique’s question that it was about you,’ said Estrada.
Messi and Pique, who were childhood friends, have played 506 matches together. Both players, who learned the game at La Masia, were later promoted to Barcelona’s senior team.
