For Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez more than just a tandem on the field. Off the field, they are too friend. Messi also sent an emotional farewell message to Suarez while criticizing Barcelona.
The Argentine football superstar was devastated after Barcelona decided to sell Suarez. Uruguay’s top striker is not included in the plans of new coach Ronald Koeman.
Even though Suarez had a great service during his six years strengthening Barca. Suarez contributed 198 goals in 283 games, which helped The cules won four Spanish League trophies, the Copa del Rey and once the Champions League.
Not only a deadly duet for Barcelona’s opponents, Messi and Suarez are also close outside of football. The two of them often go out together by inviting their families, and often spend holidays together. Because of their close relationship, Barca’s decision to sell Suarez is believed to be one of the driving forces for Lionel Messi to ask to be sold last July.
Now Luis Suarez will be Messi’s opponent after anchoring at Atletico Madrid. The six-time world player of the year uploaded seven photos on Instagram showing his moments with Suarez, along with a farewell greeting.
“I already know but today when I entered the dressing room the news came true. It will be very difficult because you can no longer spend the days with you, both on the pitch and off the pitch,” Messi wrote.
“We will miss those times very much. Our years together, our lunches together, dinners, many things that will never be forgotten, every day together.
