On Tuesday morning, the WhatsApp messaging service was inactive for hours in much of the world. “We have solved the problem and we apologize for any inconvenience,” said a spokesperson for the parent company Meta. He did not provide a reason for the discontinuation. Numerous users in Europe, Asia and Africa had previously reported problems sending and receiving text and video. Disturbances have been reported for example from Germany, Great Britain, India and South Africa. Internet platform Downdetector announced that more than 11,000 users in India have reported a WhatsApp error, around 68,000 in the UK and 19,000 in Singapore. However, the now mentioned WhatsApp error is likely to have affected a larger number of users.
