The coach of the Laos U-23 national team, Michael Weiss, expressed his feelings after getting rid of Malaysia in AFF U-23 Cup 2022.
Laos managed to create a new surprise in the 2022 AFF U-23 Cup after beating Malaysia 2-0 in the second match of Group B at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, Monday (21/2) night WIB.
With only two teams in Group B, Malaysia and Laos will have to meet twice to ensure their place in the semifinals of the AFF U-23 Cup.
Laos showed a 2-1 win in the first match on Friday (18/2), it was no accident as they maintained a high level of discipline to beat Malaysia for the second time.
“It was a fantastic day for Lao football. It’s not uncommon for us to beat Malaysia twice in one tournament,” Laos coach Michael Weiss said at a press conference after the match. AFF.
“It was a great first half and we could have scored some goals. Our opponents didn’t have clear chances (to score). For now, people (in Laos) are happy, and that’s fine,” said Weiss. add.
Laos was confirmed to have qualified for the semifinals of the AFF U-23 Cup with a 4-1 aggregate victory over Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Malaysia certainly failed to advance to the next round after losing the two matches they played.
