– The extremely powerful light that was seen over Eastern Norway precisely, followed by bouldering and a smoke trail, was probably a huge meteor, writes astrophysicist Eirik Newth on Twitter.
The police have also received a number of reports of sightings.
– We have received many messages about this. This has also been observed by crews out in the field, says operations manager Per Ivar Iversen in the Oslo police district to NRK.
The Eastern Police District has also received a number of reports.
– We get an awful lot of emergency calls about emergency flares and the like. The messages come from Halden in the south to Eidsvoll in the north. We are pretty sure that this is a meteor that has passed over Eastern Norway, the operations center writes on Twitter.
