The Cabildo de Tenerife disseminates the creations of young artists through the seventeenth edition of Merkarte, Mercado del Arte, an exhibition that will remain open until January 20 at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, in the capital of Tenerife, from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visits to the exhibition rooms must be made by appointment through the Merkarte page, merkartejoven.com.
The insular councilor for Education and Youth, Concepción Rivero, pointed out that the Cabildo “did not want to stop celebrating this traditional appointment with the Art Market, which allows access to new creators” and explained that this edition has had to adapt to the circumstances and the works can be purchased through the website, purchased online and you can request an appointment to see the works exhibited.
“It is,” added the counselor, “a wonderful opportunity to appreciate and buy high-quality works made by our young artists, who are making an incredible effort and, therefore, the Cabildo has decided to accept the presence in Merkarte of all the creators who submitted their application “.
For her part, the insular director of Education and Youth, Isabel Bello, encourages society to have Merkarte as a reference in the purchase it makes these days: “We invite citizens to acquire works of extraordinary quality, with prices for all budgets “and adds that” it is everyone’s responsibility to support culture and, furthermore, to achieve the projection of young artists. “
The councilor and the insular director are grateful for the collaboration of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife and this was expressed in the recent meeting they held with the president of the cultural society, Alejandro Tosco, who recognized “the commitment that both the Cabildo and the Circle to fight for this edition to come out, despite adverse circumstances “. Tosco especially thanked “the affection of the counselor towards these young creators who are having such a bad time this pandemic and who only have one exhibition a year, Merkarte. Merkarte is an initiative promoted by the Cabildo de Tenerife, through its Education and Youth area, which collects until January 20 works with prices ranging between 20 and 400 euros. With this action it is intended that young creators find other opportunities for their professional development and, therefore, during this time it has been intended to provide participants with tools and market options, to coordinate with existing agents in the field of training and recruitment, and put on the table possibilities that contribute to their professional development.
In this special edition, Merkarte has the ‘Safe Culture’ seal that guarantees that the rooms are COVID-19-free places, developing a protocol of strict access and responsible use to protect citizens by taking all necessary measures.
