So far this year, the big winner among car models is Audi’s first electric car, the E-tron. The medium-sized SUV has exactly what many Norwegians demand in a new car, and ended up as the most registered model also in July with 775 cars. It shows figures from the Road Traffic Information Council.
In second place is the competitor from Mercedes. In July, a total of 698 new EQCs were registered. Nevertheless, the Audi E-tron with 6393 registrations is clearly at the top of the registration statistics so far this year.
After two very bad years for Mercedes in Norway in 2018 and 2019, the increase so far this year of over 100 percent comes in handy.
In July, 9,772 new cars were registered in Norway, which is 6.5 per cent better than in July last year. So far this year, car sales are still down over 20 percent from 2019. The share of electric cars in July was 45.1 percent.
A number of new electric car models have gradually appeared on the list. On Friday, the deliveries of Polestar 2 start, of which 17 were registered in July, 48 Opel Corsa-e got signs, while 86 Peugeot E-2008 and 7 Honda e were registered in July. The selection of electric cars is thus steadily increasing.
The rechargeable hybrids are also back. Among other things, the BMW X1 is on the top list, along with the Volvo XC40 and Ford Kuga. All of them have come in new rechargeable hybrid variants this summer.
