James Allison, the current technical director of the Mercedes team, will take a step back from Formula 1 to take up the position of technical manager within the Ineos team in the America’s Cup.
Expert in his field in Formula 1, the Briton will launch a new challenge by devoting part of his time to the Ineos project, and although he joined the project quite late, James Allison says he is excited and ready to give everything to make sure to bring the cup back to the UK.
« Our involvement in the 36th America’s Cup campaign certainly whetted my appetite. “ Allison said on Monday during the official presentation of the Ineos team.
« For this campaign, we arrived quite late in the process and tried to add as much as possible into the project our design and engineering expertise from our applied science division. We immediately understood that the America’s Cup is a very exciting and very difficult challenge. “
“This time around we are one team, Ineos Britannia, with the team design basis built into our Formula 1 HQ, and the clear goal of bringing the America’s Cup back to Britain. “
