Mercedes has immediately changed her team name for the 2020 season. The dominant racing stable will now be known as ‘Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team’. Possibly the name change has something to do with the fact that the German racing stable nowadays also ends up in Formula E.
The Mercedes Formula 1 team has made an official name change. The racing stable of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas was previously known as “Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport”, but from now on the team from Brackley will be operating under the name “Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team”, Formula 1 journalist know Luke Smith to report via Twitter. The reason behind the name change is unknown, but it is conceivable that this was done in view of the presence of the German manufacturer in Formula E.

It is also not the first time that Mercedes has changed its nameplate. Between 2010 and 2012 the team was called ‘Mercedes GP Petronas Formula 1 Team’, in 2013 they chose to go live as’ Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team ‘, from 2014 up to and including 2016 the German racing team wished for’ Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team ‘to be announced and until recently they were driving under the name’ Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport ‘.
Mercedes is not the only racing stable that will appear under a different name from 2020. The team at Toro Rosso announced earlier that from next season there will be a farewell to the name with which they debuted in the royal class in 2006. The sister team of Red Bull Racing continues as Scuderia Alpha Tauri, referring to a clothing brand marketed by Red Bull.
