Mental health: an exhibition produced by and for young people

The Victoriaville Youth Council, the MRC d’Arthabaska, the Youth Council of the MRC and the City of Victoriaville today unveil the six works selected as part of a call for young talents that ended last April and focusing on youth mental health.

The call, which is part of the Éclaircis ta tête awareness campaign, initiated by the Victoriaville Youth Council, aimed to collect works made by young people from the MRC d’Arthabaska. The six selected works will be exhibited this summer on the cycle path at the corner of boulevard Jutras and rue Carignan, near the viaduct, as well as in public spaces in Warwick and Notre-Dame-de-Ham.

“A real social issue, mental health concerns us all, regardless of our age. I would like to congratulate this initiative of the youth council which makes it possible to use art to promote dialogue on the subject, ”indicates the mayor of Victoriaville, André Bellavance.

“The Youth Council is proud of the work accomplished by young people in the region. Through their creativity and talent, they educate their peers to adopt behaviors that promote good mental health, but also to seek help and communicate with resources in the region. They destigmatize less well-known aspects of psychological health, while breaking down the taboos that are often associated with it, ”says Laura Tremblay, spokesperson for the Victoriaville Youth Council.

“Our young people represent a real source of inspiration through their great talent and their ideas for improving our living environments. By setting up a youth council and adopting a youth policy, the MRC d’Arthabaska aimed to promote the realization of concrete projects, such as this exhibition in our municipalities ”, underlines the prefect of the MRC d ‘ Arthabaska and the mayor of Saint-Albert, Alain St-Pierre.

On the occasion of this unveiling, the Victoriaville youth council and that of the MRC wish to underline the involvement of artists. Two “special mentions” grants are thus awarded, one to Marianne Richard for her work Nuage Passager, and the other to Taomie Pépin for her text CARPE DIEM: true beauty is invisible. The other artists, whose creation has been selected, are Myralie Côté, Vincent Thibodeau, Anaïs V. Berthiaume, as well as Pascale Boutin, will also share several participation prizes.

All the works and tools developed during the Éclaircis ta tête campaign are now available on the Victoriaville Youth Council’s Facebook page. The dates and locations of the exhibition will also be made public on the various social networks of the project partners.
