Meizu Watch offers 1.78-inch AMOLED and Snapdragon Wear 4100

More news about smartwatches this Wednesday, when Meizu has introduced its first truly smartwatch. Like several other manufacturers, Meizu has chosen to simply call the device Watch.

The watch has an unusually large screen of 1.78 ″, with 368 x 448 pixels and 326 ppi. It’s the same screen size and resolution as Apple’s latest smartwatches. The panel can reach 500 nits brightness and it is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The chassis consists of an aluminum alloy and the watch weighs 69 grams. The battery has a capacity of 420mAh, which according to Meizu should last for up to 36 hours on a single charge. Charging for only 15 minutes should be enough for one day of use, while a complete charge takes 45 minutes. Charging takes place via a proprietary adapter.

The Meizu Watch is one of the few smartwatches powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100, but even this time it seems to be the regular Wear 4100 and not the superior Plus edition. The device has 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi and NFC. There is support for measuring heart rate and oxygen saturation, but GPS is missing.

The Chinese page is difficult to translate as much of the text consists of images, but the watch is said to run a customized version of Wear OS. The price in China is the equivalent of 1945 kronor.
