Meghan Markle’s Role as Rachel in Suits: Royal Interference and the Ban on ‘Poppycock’

Meghan was allowed in her role as Rachel in the lawyer series Suits of the British royal family don’t say “poppycock”. That said the creator of the Netflix series Aaron Korsh in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter. Poppycock means something like nonsense or gossip.

Meghan was dating Prince Harry at the time Suits was included. They have now been married for years. According to Korsh, the British royal family had a small finger in the pie during the recordings.

“They did interfere in a few things,” he said. According to him, it was “just a few things that we wanted to do, but they said we couldn’t. That was kind of annoying.”

The ban on the word “poppycock” was one of those things. “The royal family didn’t want Meghan to use that word,” says Korsh. He thinks they wanted to prevent people from cutting the lyrics so she would just say “cock.” That’s the English word for penis.

“So we changed it to bullshit instead of poppycock,” says Korsh. “I didn’t like that because I had already told my in-laws that poppycock would be heard in the series.” His in-laws often use that word. Just like Korsh himself.
