Megawati Contemplating Jokowi’s Successor, Here Are the Results of the Latest Presidential Candidate Survey

General Chairperson (Ketum) of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri PDIP has not yet determined who the presidential candidate will be in the 2024 presidential election. Megawati is still contemplating finding the successor to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Still contemplating Megawati The issue of Jokowi’s successor was revealed by the Secretary General of the PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, at the PDIP DPP office, Central Jakarta, Saturday (23/10). Hasto said Megawati heard the people’s voices and asked God for guidance before deciding who the PDIP presidential candidate would be.

“The matter of who will become the next president, the party of course takes careful consideration of listening to the aspirations of the people and that is what Megawati Soekarnoputri did. Including contemplation asking for instructions from God Almighty, towards a leader who is truly worthy to continue leadership from Pak Jokowi,” said Hasto.

Hasto said Megawati had many considerations before giving support to a presidential candidate. The same thing, he continued, was also done by Megawati before giving support to Jokowi to run in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections.

Hasto then talked about a number of names of potential PDIP cadres that could be brought up for the 2024 presidential election. The names of DPR RI Chairman Puan Maharani and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo were in it.

“The party continues to prepare regeneration steps for the presence of leaders for the nation and state including Mbak Puan, Pak Ganjar Pranowo, from the government circle there is Mrs Risma then there is Pak Anas from Banyuwangi, there is Mr Oli and if from the party’s internal ranks there is Mr. do not sit in the government, there are also figures like Mas Prananda Prabowo, Pak Ahmad Basarah, and so on,” he said.

Recent Survey Results

Some of the names that Hasto mentioned have entered the 2024 presidential candidate exchange in a number of surveys. Ganjar’s name is often ranked in the top two in surveys with the chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto. The electability of the Governor of Central Java has also been in the top position several times.

Other names, such as Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini or Risma and Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, also frequently enter the presidential candidate exchange. But unfortunately, both are not as successful as Ganjar in a number of recent surveys. Risma has been ranked in the top 10 several times, while Puan is more often perched in the twelfth position.
