Jakarta –
The figure of Ida Dayak, who is currently on social media, is narrated as a ‘magical woman’ who often practices traditional medicine. It is said to be able to overcome various diseases, from stroke to crooked bone problems.
Her video which went viral on social media made many people willing to stand in line to be treated by Ida Dayak. Most recently, many residents have gathered waiting for Ida Dayak’s medical practice at the Kostrad GOR, Cilodong, Depok.
Not a few patients are willing to wait for hours to be treated by Ida Dayak. Some even came from outside the area and stayed overnight even though the event was finally cancelled.
In a viral video, Ida Dayak narrates that he succeeded in straightening a patient’s arm which at first appeared crooked. Various comments flooded the video, many of which implied admiration.
In this regard, a hand surgery consultant from Mayapada Hospital, Dr. Oryza Satria, SpOT, spoke about the safety of traditional medicine, as was done by Ida Dayak. According to him, the safety of traditional medicine depends on the procedure performed.
“If traditional medicine is safe or not, the answer is relatively yes,” said Dr. Oryza when contacted by detik.com, Monday (3/4/2023).
“It’s okay to perform any action with traditional techniques, as long as it meets the principles of management in the medical orthopedic field, namely, ‘first do no harm’,” he explained.

Furthermore, he said that the most important thing in the process of treating bone injuries is to make sure the patient feels comfortable and is not injured.
“So the thing that must be done by a medic or doctor in taking action on a patient is not to injure, or make the patient feel uncomfortable or even painful,” he explained.
The world of traditional medicine is different from science on the medical side. According to Dr. Oryza, there is such wide diversity in traditional medicine that it cannot be equated with medical science which has a basis of uniformity.
“Traditional medicine takes many forms. So there is no uniformity like the medical world which has a basic anatomy and physiology and medicines to treat patients,” he explained.
“As for traditional medicine, there are many variations, so from a medical point of view, to be honest, I cannot comment more because the knowledge is different,” he concluded.
