One crystal you may have encountered earlier is the bloodstone, also known as heliotrope.
What is Bloodstone?
Bloodstone is a type of dark green quartz with red flecks. Its other name, heliotrope, comes from the Greek word for solstice. It is a popular crystal often used for strength, presence and courage.

Uses in Feng Shui
Activate Zhen, the area of new beginnings
The Zhen area of the feng shui bagua, also called New Beginnings or Family, is related to starting new projects. Often, to start something new in your life, it is first necessary to release blockages and stagnant energy so that you can move forward with clarity and determination. If you are starting something new, you can place the bloodstone in the Zhen location of your home to help you break down the blocks that are holding you back and increase your motivation to move forward. To find Zhen, imagine a three-by-three grid (like a tic-tac-toe board) placed above your home or bedroom. When you are at the entrance to your house or room, Zhen is in the center of the left side of the grid.
Activate Dui, the completion area
In front of Zhen on the bagua map is Dui, who is also called Completion or Children. Sometimes it’s easy to start new projects, but it’s hard to stay motivated and get them done. If this is a problem for you, you can activate the Dui zone of your home. To find Dui, imagine the same grid placed on your home or bedroom. Dui will be the middle right section of the grid. Try placing a bloodstone here with the intention of helping you stay present with your project and persistent in your work towards your goals.
Activate Tai Qi, the domain of health
The center of the bagua map is called Tai Qi and is related to general well-being. Since it is in the center, it touches all the bagua areas that surround it. Likewise, your well-being affects all areas of your life, so this is a really key area. If you feel unfounded, it can be helpful to look at Tai Qi. Bloodstone is a very grounding and calming stone, and it really encourages us to stay in the present moment, so it can be very useful in Tai Qi. One way to activate this part of your home is to place a bloodstone here to support your intentions of grounding, centering and strength.
Activate Li, the recognition zone
The Li area of the bagua, also called Recognition or Fame, is related to the fire element. Fire is related to passion, inspiration and being seen. Fire is also the most yang of the five elements, which means it is very active. The red color is an expression of the fire element and the blood stone is related to the fire element due to its red spots. Since the bloodstone also includes the green color, it is also related to the wood element. In the cycle of the five elements, wood feeds the fire, so the elements of wood and fire both support each other in the position of Li. To find Li, stand in front of the inward-facing front door and imagine a three-by-three grid resting on your home and locate the central area. Try placing the bloodstone in the Li position to invite more qualities of the fire element, such as visibility and inspiration.
