McDonald’s: – Horror discovery in McDonald’s food

Shelby Forrester (25) from Shropshire in the UK had consumed a good portion of the McDonald’s wrap and was nearing the end of the meal.

When she took a real bite of the roll, she expected the taste of some chicken, salad and maybe some dressing. Instead, she sank her teeth into a snail.

This is written by the news agency Kennedy News and Media.

Spit out

The 25-year-old and her boyfriend Jake Adams (29) had ordered the McDonald’s meal through an app. The two were to give themselves a small reward after putting their two children to bed for the evening.

– We had intended to have a nice evening and order food from McDonald’s so I didn’t have to cook dinner. I ordered today’s chicken wrap. I have eaten it before, she tells the news agency.

They ordered two chicken wrap menus and two cheeseburgers for a total of NOK 180, and traveled to the McDonald’s restaurant to collect the food.

Jake had already eaten his wrap, and Shelby had about three bites left, when she felt a crushing sensation between her teeth.

The 25-year-old immediately spat out the food to investigate further.

– I felt the snap in my mouth. I expected it to be a piece of chicken, but when I spat it out I was speechless. I sat there in silence for ten minutes.

– It was completely musty

When Jake asked her what was wrong, she asked her boyfriend to look at the wrap to confirm if what she had seen was correct:

– I was absolutely horrified. He said: “It’s a snail!”, and I replied: “I know!”. I didn’t know what to do: whether I should run to the sink and throw up, or get furious, she says, and elaborates:

– It was in my mouth. I broke it. It was completely musty. I spit it out right away. I feel sick and offended.

Shelby says that she was afraid that the snail could have made her sick, as she had heard that snails can be carriers of diseases.

– We also bought two cheeseburgers, but I can promise you we didn’t eat them. They went straight into the bin, she says.

– Wants compensation

The 25-year-old claims that she took the snail back to the McDonald’s restaurant that delivered the food. The employees there are said to have had no answer as to how the snail ended up in the food.

She says that the restaurant promised to forward the complaint to head office, and that the couple were offered a refund – and a free meal.

Shelby refused.

– I said I wasn’t going to eat at McDonald’s again and that I wanted them to take my complaint further. I want compensation for having had a snail in my mouth, she says.

The next day, Shelby says she got a call from McDonald’s head office.

– They were very upset, and said they were going to test the snail in a laboratory, she says.

– This was the final straw

Now Shelby, who says she used to visit the restaurant twice a month, has decided to never eat at McDonald’s again.

– I was a fan of McDonald’s. They don’t have gourmet meals, but they are quick and easy, and the burgers are pretty good. But this was the final straw.

However, she is happy that it was she herself, and not her boyfriend Jake, who got the snail in her wrap. She believes that Jake continued to nibble on the snail, thinking it was chicken cartilage.

– He is the type who will continue to chew, even if he feels the crunch. It was a good thing I got it, because he had ended up swallowing it.

– We are sorry

A spokesperson from McDonald’s tells Kennedy News that the quality of the food is very important to the fast food chain.

– We attach great importance to quality control and follow strict standards to avoid any imperfection. When the customer brought this to our attention via our restaurant team, we immediately apologized and gave her all the money back, says the person.

Furthermore, the spokesperson says that McDonald’s customer service team has been in contact with Shelby to apologize and to find a solution to the matter.

For Shelby’s part, the case is over:

– I will not eat at McDonald’s again!
