Mayor Daan Prevoo of the municipality of Valkenburg aan de Geul believes that there should be no unnecessary panic by issuing warnings for high water. “We need to communicate with the right facts,” he tells 1Limburg.
On Sunday there was a lot of rain in South Limburg. It led to flooding and also the water level in the Geul rose quickly as a result† Midway through the night from Sunday to Monday, the level started to fall again.
