For the regular Samsung Galaxy S21 series, the May update is now rolling out in the Netherlands and Belgium. The update is a bit boring this month, but that’s certainly not a bad thing.

Earlier this week, the Galaxy S21 FE was still updated with an update without the May patch. So he still has to get the device. However, today the three oldest models in the series – S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra – are first up.
An update of just under 400 MB is now ready. It contains firmware version G99xBXXU7EWE1. In recent months, the devices received One UI 5.1, and last month the Image clipper function of the Galaxy S23. So today’s update seems a bit boring in comparison. It only does two things, and for once it doesn’t add any new features.
Still, there’s nothing wrong with that. The May patch is important anyway, with security improvements for the Exynos model of the series. Moreover, vulnerabilities in the security of all kinds of apps are also plugged.
And then there is another point on the changelist. The update also improves thestability and reliability‘ of the Galaxy S21. In short, some wrinkles that had appeared in the software’s operation over the past few months are being ironed out with all those major feature updates.
Availability and installation
The new update is now immediate Over The Air available on the unbranded Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra in the Netherlands and Belgium. If you were a branded model from T-Mobile or Vodafone, you still have to wait and see. You will get the update, but – it seems – not yet this morning. Of course, the Galaxy S21 FE will also receive the patch later this month.
As usual, you can wait for the automatic update notification. Or you can check availability directly via Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install.
