A group of at least eight suspected youth gang members robbed a 14-year-old boy at gunpoint in Brooklyn Bridge Park and gathered to film the violent experience. as the blatant evidence shows.
The teen was at Pier 2 inside Brooklyn Bridge Park around 7:50 p.m. Saturday when the group approached him, the New York police said yesterday.
The video of the unprovoked attack shows at least eight assailants surrounding the victim and several of them using their phones to record the assaultand one pointing a gun at the teen’s head. Al final they took his wallet, phone, debit cards and even his sneakers, the police said.
The attack was later shared on social media, including Snapchat. Alasha Guy, mother of the victim, is still trying to explain the reason for the assault to his son, an outstanding student with no history of violence.
“I was shocked,” Guy, 33, said of the videotaped assault on his son. “He called me after it happened and was still shaking and distraught. A lot of people didn’t help him because they were scared too… He doesn’t know any of them.”he stated to New York Post about the attackers that the NYPD is now trying to identify and capture.
“Now he says he really doesn’t want to go out at all,” Mrs Guy added. “Not good.” Yet she said she, “We don’t want any retaliatory action.”
